Well I'm a bit of an emotional wreck. Let me just say I never cared for Jo and I was always mostly indifferent on Ellen.

So in the entire scene from where Jo was all about sacrificing herself and Ellen didn't just put her foot down I was like NO! No, no fucking WAY would that woman do that.

Which just made her sacrificing herself too so much worse. She knew from the moment Jo was clearly dying that she was just going to go ahead and die, too.

Idk, man, I have never cried over this show before--and I have some serious effing investment in it as anyone who's reading this should know--but I've had to turn the episode off for now and just cry for a while. I'll finish watching in a little while, I guess.

When Ellen said "My good girl" I turned it off, because tmi that's what my mom always says when you're sick or hurt.

Anyway I am a bit fucked up here.

I really thought the surgery scene from Changing Channels was going to come into play and Sam would save Jo. Oh well.

eta: ok watched the rest. Samael shoutie. Ok, I won't even bitch about the cop out on that.

I just broke down sobbing at what Ellen said at the very end. Just... a great, really great heroes exit. Man. I also wondered at how Ellen was acting at first but it made sense by the end, that she'd go too. Still heartbreaking. That will definitely be a hard scene to rewatch. Fantastic acting from all of them.

I think this ep really fucked with us because it's about women. It's the mother-daughter dynamic and the show is usually about brothers and the father-son dynamic. So they brought it in a way that's very personal for the viewer. Which is especially funny in light of all the fangirl crap. They are tailoring the show to us, and people still bitch.

I haven't felt this emotional about a death on a tv show since Joyce died on Buffy, and I think that's the point.

I reject the paradigm that the show shits on women. I think they're trying, and this ep hit every button as serious art when that means I am empathetic to the media.

Exactly. I think that really affected me more than anything else in the show in the past -- plus, I always watch SPN with my mom so BUCKETS OF TEARS. They did a fantastic job, I don't care what anyone else says.

I agree, I think they definitely are trying. (ahh god now I'm gonna think about that Buffy episode! Another good one.)
