I think this ep really fucked with us because it's about women. It's the mother-daughter dynamic and the show is usually about brothers and the father-son dynamic. So they brought it in a way that's very personal for the viewer. Which is especially funny in light of all the fangirl crap. They are tailoring the show to us, and people still bitch.

I haven't felt this emotional about a death on a tv show since Joyce died on Buffy, and I think that's the point.

I reject the paradigm that the show shits on women. I think they're trying, and this ep hit every button as serious art when that means I am empathetic to the media.

Exactly. I think that really affected me more than anything else in the show in the past -- plus, I always watch SPN with my mom so BUCKETS OF TEARS. They did a fantastic job, I don't care what anyone else says.

I agree, I think they definitely are trying. (ahh god now I'm gonna think about that Buffy episode! Another good one.)
