I'm pretty sure "reverse racism" is just white-people speak for "A POC isn't treating me like I shit diamonds," just like misandry is male speak for "A woman is questioning what I'm saying based on the merits of my arguments."

I work in a field where POC are in the power structure and white people are in the minority. I've encountered prejudice, sure, based on my age and race, but do I have the skin-crawling fear that I'm going to need to prove my own self worth (see TFV's account of car buying (http://thefourthvine.livejournal.com/112449.html?#cutid1))? Nope. Sorry cupcakes. That's not reverse racism. That's just someone being rude to you.

Yeah, I have given this a lot of thought over the last few days (that is: trying to figure out how people can earnestly justify themselves on claims of reverse racism) and I think at the end of the day it boils down to disenfranchisement olympics where people are so invested in how mistreated they are that they get pissed off that other people have more valid claims to being the victims of systemic abuse. I think this is what leads people to say "as a woman, I..." or "as a Druid, I..." or "as a furry, I..." in conversations about racism.

As a unicorn enthusiast and 12-level vegan, I really resent the implication that my suffering does not equate to the kidnap, murder, systematic enslavement, disenfranchisement, and continued oppression of others.
