I had my first code today.
At the time I did what I had to do so that no one died. Afterwards it was a little surreal to just go back to my normal shift doing my normal bullshit work passing meds and doing paperwork.
When I got home I had my moment of "holy shit, I'm responsible for people's actual lives!"
Hey, guys, I saved someone's life. This is my new career.
Incidentally, I packed my toothbrush this morning because I had Chinese for lunch yesterday and my teeth felt gross the rest of the day. That worked out well having to give rescue breaths later on.
