syncope at 05:05pm on 16/08/2011Am I to be lead to believe in that Top Whatever Sci-Fi books EVER meme that Guy Gavriel Kay didn't make it?
All the hindsight is 20-20 in mind wrt to his complete lack of self awareness about colonialist behavior, his books are amazing, I am sorry. I have probably read Lions of Al-Rassan 15 times and Finovar disturbs me so much I have to ration reading it because I ball my eye out EVERY TIME. Tigana is also great reading.
My favorite childhood fantasy novel, Tam Lin by Pamela Dean, never gets any love because it's too "female centric," I guess. The same as how The Secret History has fallen off the literary novel map even though it was such a darling for 15 minutes. (Same era books.)
Tomorrow I watch an embalming.
Who knows where I can buy a book earring holder/tree thing? Etsy is acceptable, anything else is as well. I am the worst shopper in the world.
