syncope at 08:21pm on 29/03/2011So just now, bored by my normal reading materials on the internet, I was reading f_w. Wait, wait, this isn't a crazy rant about fandom.
Apparently 4chan is in love with My Little Ponies ???????
What.
Isn't 4chan populated by middle aged, bitter men who have given up all hope for a happy life? Is it really populated by thirteen year old girls? THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH.
Also, apparently, the lady who makes this My Little Pony show is pretty cool. (She's clearly earnest, and I know that her intention doesn't negate the other arguments, but phallic symbols? Seriously?)
Wait, let's break that out of a parenthetical. That kind of completely OTT "critique" is what makes people dismiss feminism. Do five year olds really see a unicorn and get subliminally incepted into believing that dicks are great? I sort of feel like that stretches the limits of belief. I doubt the target demo for this cartoon even knows about the unicorn/virginity myths. Don't you need to be literate before you can start frantically googling "post-modern feminist deconstruction of traditional mythology"? Maybe they use the voice ap on their Droids.
