Earlier this week we went to Chicago. Why, you ask?
Let me tell you!
We met w/ the hotel peoples and toured the facilities and so on. You know, how you do. You will be pleased to note that one of our contacts is a fan-type person and wildly enthusiastic about the arrival of our traveling circus! She's super cool and clearly committed to making the Con better than last year. This is quite the bar to meet, but I say bring it on, lady.
We have what amounts to the lower level of the hotel to ourselves for the Roadhouse (which will buy a renaming token and reappear next year as something else...but what is as yet unknown) this year. This includes a dang patio, y'all. Yes, our very own patio to flounce around in isolation from scrapbookers or the NAACP leadership committee. Pretty rad, right?
Ya know how it goes, we managed to haul our sorry asses out for sight-seeing one day. Guess what day that was? Sunday. Guess what happens on Sunday this time of year. Well, we had the whole Chicago experience, people. I don't know how long we were stuck in football traffic, but it was long enough to turn ironic and amusing rather than annoying. No Field Museum for J, but we did go to the Art Institute and Millennium Park.

Chicago's a toothsome city, a place that has it's own texture. I plan to do touristy stuff next October, especially the boat architecture tour--I've been there a gazillion times and not done that, so. That will be one of our outings, for sure. I'm particularly thrilled for all the people who've never been to Chicago before to get to see the city as I happen to be fond.
And in other news, I am signing up for Yuletide. Several fandoms I already write in are listed, so I figure that isn't much of a hardship or stretch for me. What to request is baffling me, though.
