The writer of the Shazam movie speaks. This one really fascinated me because he seems to feel he's writing in a vacuum where none of the execs he's talking about will know he said these things and hold a grudge--er, their assistants probably have internet connections, dude. Personally, I think both versions of this film sound shitty. I wonder why THIS particular property went into development anyway when a Green Lantern or Flash movie hasn't happened yet. I've always found Captain Marvel troubling, mostly because I think it's based on old fashioned ideas (about childhood wish fulfillment) that we've outgrown as a society--a superhero who looks like a grown up who is really a child inside? YIKES! On the other hand, the WB's crackpotted plans to develop films about DC villains sound GREAT to me personally. I assume the execution will go something like the below film, however. (How great would a Deathstroke movie be, seriously.)
Yet another opinion on the Watchmen movie. Here I found two things striking: 1. that the worst insult imaginable is that someone suck a dick, which seems somewhat self-loathing as all men really want is to have their dick sucked at their leisure, right? (this is really reinforced in the comments) and 2. how predictable comic book fans are about their source material being "raped" (again, see: comments). Will this film go down as a the (so far) most controversial comic book movie ever? How many people have even read the source? It's a Moore book, not The Avengers or JLA, I just don't get some of the implications of how huge the book is since I think most of the sales have been since the movie was announced. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but it's been my personal impression. If this shit got made (let alone V for Vendetta) where is the spec on a Transmet movie? Maybe there is some and I don't know about it since I avoid comic book movie discussion since it ususally involves a lot of invective on the part of the commentators.
