Dear god, people, my friends are funny as hell. I know I can strike some comedy stylings up in this bitch, but, seriously, I am but one of a cast of thousands.
I was just talking to my
queenofalostart about Montreal and she says "I like Montreal. It's like that stripper cousin everyone has. You think you can bring her out to Applebees without her taking her top off, but it never works out."
(Montreal is part of my McCain exit strategy.)
I have commentary about the new FOB song but I feel like there's no reason to air my opinions on that since the bottom line on FOB is that you should enjoy it uncritically. The only other times I've known people to be irrational about music it's been about people I KNEW so I never bothered to care or be critical in any way. This is a very strange new world I'm in. This is what I'll say for now (and look away if I annoy the hell out of you, because I'm about to): I guess all the verbiage about writing "in character" is to cover up Pete articulating his feelings about his marriage. I was reserving judgment on that because WHO KNOWS what that crackpot might get up to, so when they started talking about writing "in character" I was expecting, like, a song written in the voice of his furry character. Which we could still get. Cooperstown, though, not so much opaque, dudes. I just don't know how they're going to handle the fact that pretty much their entire career has been based on Pete having super shitty relationships with people he doesn't care about maligning in songs and now he's in a high profile shotgun marriage with another pop star. AWKWARD!
I like having new Patrick on my iPod, but I dislike both of the new songs. If Cooperstown is the sound of the album, I suppose I'll just have to take my licks and suck it up. I'm an addict, it's not like I won't listen to the shit.
