I don't think there can be much debate that Sarah Palin is a crackpot. The question is, what's wrong with people who just overlook that because they hate Obama so much? The whole insidious culture of willful ignorance is stunning in a day and age when people have access to education all around them and for free. It made sense back when access to education was controlled tightly by those who would rather certain truths be hidden so that people were easily kept ignorant that people would BE ignorant. What amazes me is that people are so willing to believe that their pastors/other religious leaders are the RIGHT SOURCE for political direction. I think this goes on the liberal side of the spectrum as well as on the right. Doesn't it seem like someone who's chosen a religious vocation probably has a pretty steep agenda? I don't know, I grew up in what amounts to a theocracy and I managed to escape, so I know it's possible--that's why I think the ignorance is willful.
Jenn's in the new FOB video. Yeah. I mean, so much mockery on my part, but she had a good time, and that's all that counts in life. You don't get quizzed on your scene cred at the Pearly Gates (if you do, I'm changing my name to xkassiex--when spoken the Xs either sound like a cobra hissing or are silent, your choice). Wrt, one of our fave games is "how many scene points?" where we make up stupid shit and assign it points. I lost my red earrings so I think that's minus ten at least.
Today I'm faced with the absolute fact that some people probably have me friended to either hate me in a more immediate fashion or to perhaps share locked material I post for the lolz. I'm not naive, and I've known that people do this for years. For the most part my view on that is to each her own--if your fannish experience is predicated on disliking others and laughing about how much you hate X or Y person, their views, and their existence, rock out w/ that! I honestly mean this. Go on, have a good time hating me. I just don't like having to actually WITNESS it. I'm fine w/ bandflesh and lolmeme and whatever zany crap goes down on jf because I understand that people need an outlet, and if it's me and my oh-so-hateworthy opinions you choose to slag off, whatever. On the other horse of another color, I don't like stumbling across people on my fl who are directly calling me an asshole on lj. There are limits to tolerance, and clearly I've crossed theirs as have they crossed mine. I defriended a bunch of people, if you think you've been unfairly targeted, email me.
