You know how sometimes you're on delicious and you don't come out for six days? Well, in my recent trolling of delicious I stumbled on the lamest wikipedia edit wars. Under the "fandom and fiction" tag is FRANK IERO. Now. Do they mean, like, he's in a band and has FANS or that he's fictonal? Ok, what I really mean is do they mean FANDOM as we perceive of it? This is intriguing! Also, what's up with teenagers editing wiki pages, because I ASSUME (please let this assumption be correct) that whoever is editing his wiki page over whether Jamia is pregnant or not be 12 (if you, person on my fl, is doing this, please stop, ok?). Although the edit war on how to pronounce his name amuses me A LOT. I have no idea why, though. I guess because I imagine him being all "why do people devote so much attention to stupid shit? why aren't they out planting a tree or making mixtapes? why why? pass the bong!"

In other (for the above, semi) music related news, I was checking out the short list for the Polaris Prize and I'm struck by the new depths of pretension that the Canadian music press can reach each year. It's like they have a diamond drill bit of indier-than-thou.

I do like the new Kathleen Edwards album, though.

I think both of these tracks would be great on fanmixes:
Sure As Shit Frank/Gerard
I Make the Dough, You Get the Glory Pete/Patrick

Hahaha My tin hat can be seen from space today apparently!

Plants and Animals and Holy Fuck? I mean, come on, Canadian music press!

In case you don't have her friended, Rachel posted a bunch of music. Some of it I can endorse (that Panic cover is surprisingly alright and I do love some of the new Cab songs), but Metro Station is NOT one of those that I can endorse. I am concerned with how popular they appear to be getting. WTF??? They even seem to be growing on Jenn who was trying to lure me into liking them by calling Mr. Red Jeans "chubby." NO. Forget it! "Goodbye Blues" is also great. It would appear we're missing the Hushies and the Cab when they're here, though, because 1. show starts at 7 (whaaaaaaaaat? oh yeah, all ages bullshit!) and 2. we're going to Eddie Izzard that night. BOOOOOO on scheduling.

And here is one more Kathleen Edwards song: Scared At Night This track is written directly to her just-passed grandfather and actually made me cry when I first heard it. It's devastating, touching on alienation both at the beginning and the end of life. It's also a very personal portrait of grieving and the depth of interpersonal relationships. This whole album is amazing, from a track about a murder victim ("Alicia Ross") to one about how dating a musician is Bad News ("Cheapest Key"). Kathleen is also a lovely person, so buy the record and pay her bills (heating is expensive in Ottawa, plus she *still* lives in Ottawa which is weird and quirky).

I have a whole new idea for a book that is not the one I'm working on, which never happens to me in the middle of a project. It's maybe not even a bad idea, also strange since I have A LOT of bad ideas, trust me (am laughing at myself, no need to tell me how awes I am, kids). This involves suicides being ripe for the plucking between life and death by supernatural creatures and being reincarnated with a purpose. It's creepy and dark and full of pointlessness and futility, so my life's work, y/y? hahaha
