It's ok for Clinton to go on 60 Minutes and REFUSE TO DENY the muslim crapola was coming from her camp (hello, James Carville, you prick, it's not the 90's anymore, and your target market is much bigger than 9/11 terrizored Boomers), but we need to stay civil on the internet?

I hate seeing the party ripped apart, the same as the next leftie, but I think what we need talk about WHY we're all so fucking pissed at each other rather than discuss tone. This is a lovely example of the sort of vapid, infotainment that the mainstream media is so very fond of. There's a vague air of insiderism, a touch of hauteur, and a whole lot of missing the point.

Yes, there's a whole reactionary stream of youth culture that idolizes purity in a "you don't get it" way (as a matter of fact, I mock this roundly on a pretty constant basis, hello, my opinions on being edge, let me puke bourbon on them!) but does this person honestly think that the corporations are responding TO rather than manufacturing this wholesome revolution? It's called the Disney BRAND, they've been at this a while, and they're damned good at it. The fact that this article could have Brendon Urie and Hayley Williams in the same article as the Jonas Brothers is missing not only the forest for the trees but the whole damned state the trees are in. Brendon Urie! Does being a former Mormon make you wholesome? Tell that to Bert McCracken! WHAT THE FUCK? Hayley is the product of her environment--suburban, white, mega-Christian Tennessee. She's a kid who hasn't figured herself out yet who was propagandized to be like that, give her a couple years influenced by PETE WENTZ, wtf again. Pete knocked up another Christian icon, folks. I hope Hayley's on the pill.

Fundamentally, I just find this sort of bringing The Knowledge To the People more beneficial if you know what the hell you're talking about.
