My mom dresses up her dog, so Julia thinks I should buy this. She clearly hates me.
I stumbled into a couple of the SUP is the devil conversations. I have no strong feelings about this. I personally just want it to all go away because I have a very American interaction with the world: I ignore what I dislike. I'm not for Russian oppression of the media and intellectuals, but at the same time, I just don't know what the fuck fangirls are supposed to do about this. I understand the impetus behind the boycott, but things like that always seem sort of, hm, ineffectual? Maybe that's just me being an extreme cynic, and I would never say "don't even TRY, you're gonna fail"--I mean, if you think boycotts/strikes are going to affect change, by all means, run w/ that. But I think it all feels a bit entitled because people are mostly upset about bad customer service when the bigger picture seems to be about internet censorship. I think this will happen more and more as time goes on, and it mostly doesn't impact people in the West. For now. China blocks the CBC entirely. Pakistan took down the internet for several countries trying to block content for its citizens. This is a much larger issue to some extent (and here I'm saying "your concerns are petty" in an effort to shift the debate, because I frickin' HATE that argument falacy). I wonder if we couldn't maybe talk about how we could try to be better citizens of the world in general in terms of internet censorship. Fans love charity and getting behind causes.
Anyway, that was just my rambling thoughts about that matter!
