We've had 16 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. Before I moved back to the States, I would have laughed at that and said "bring it, motherfuckers!" but I've grown soft apparently. The issue, really, isn't the amount of snow, which is a lot, frankly, but the fact that people here don't know how to act about it. They ran out of salt for the roads--yes, that is correct--and nothing, and I mean nothing, is plowed. Yesterday when I was out it was more amusing than anything, but now you can't *go* anywhere or do anything because there's no snow removal. It's disgraceful and also makes me feel claustrophobic a bit.
There is also the fact that no one has snowblowers and I just spent the afternoon shoveling snow from two driveways. My cousin left her car in the driveway and the snow drifted against it as high as my waist and it was starting to ice on the outside. Jesus Christ on a pogostick! I can't wait for the road to get plowed so I can go out and shovel the ends of the laneways. FUCK THAT! I hate shoveling the snow that gets packed in by the plows so much. Whine whine whine.
winchestercon is now open for registration. VOTE EARLY AND VOTE OFTEN. Or something. We're in Baltimore this year...whoops, ok, I need to get in the bath, am shivering.
