So, one day Pete got really annoyed that people seem to take Gerard seriously as an artist and he said NUH UH! and stomped his foot. In a forest in Romania, three woodland creatures died as a result of his temper tantrum. Everyone's seen the comic, I'm sure.
Now, about that whole Vicky-T reads fanfic thing...
I think that sometimes the popularity of certain people/things gets obscured in fandom. So, Supernatural seems like a really popular show because everyone I know talks about it all the time. In actuality, I don't know any nonfannish people who watch it out here in RL.
I think in a similar way, Cobra Starship seems like a popular band, but they're really not actually famous. Celebrity is new for most of them, and it only follows that they would google themselves and read the fic about them. Wouldn't you? Wouldn't it be tempting to interact with people creating stories about you?
I don't know. It seems like much ado about nothing. Would I want to be trapped in a room with Patrick Stump being grilled about the fetishization of his hat wearing or his chub? Could I donate a kidney instead? I know confrontation with the fact that "celebrities" read fic is shocking and disgruntling for many people, but, like I've said before, we are free marketing for them so they LIKE that people do their advertising for free. I mean, Cobra is nothing without fandom. Fandom finances their current level of success. Do you know anyone outside of fandom (who is not a scenester or in the industry) who even knows who this band is?
Anyway, Ugly Betty, who watches it?
Also, Happy Birthday Theresa. You're my sister-friend and I adore your stripey socks off.
